It looks like there are three groups of Rossons that immigrated to southern TN, but I'm unsure if they are related and if so, how. The first group are the two brothers John Rosson, Jr. and Joseph Osborn Rosson, both of whom are children of John Rosson, Sr. of NC, and their descendents. Jr. settled in NW Lincoln county in an area that later became part of Marshall county. Joseph settled in Bedford county in an area that also later became part of Marshall county. They arrived some time between 1810 and 1820.
A second group, if you can call it that, lived in Lincoln county. Rebecca Rosson appears in the 1830 census with children (11/212001), so it looks like she was born 1790-1800. There's another Rebecca Rosson in Marshall county in the 1840 and 1850 census (living with Joseph Rosson age 11), but the ages don't match up, she being about 10 years younger. Neither one looks to be the widow of Jopseph Osborn Rosson. Does anybody have any info on these two ladies?
The third group settled in Giles county. I know very little about them because I can't figure out where they came from. Does anybody know anything about these Rossons?
Thanks a bunch.

And Abner Rosson also ended up in Hardeman county. Speaking of which, can somebody give me his kids names? I recall having some difficulty reconciling what I had seen in other peoples trees on ancestry with censuses. There are entirely too many Johns, Josephs, and Williams in the Rosson tree.

Hi
I'm descended from Abner through his son Joseph. Joseph moved to Jackson Co, AL and raised his family there. My great grandfather is his son James Monroe Rosson. He was married to Cynthia Morris. My grandfather was James Edward Rosson (born approx 1859 in AL and died 1934 in San Francisco. My mother was Violet Rosson born 1913 in S.F. and died 1968 in Novato, CA. She also had a brother Albert (born 1915 in S.F. and died in Ohio in the 1970s). I have no info about any family he may have had and would love to know if I have cousins out there.
I'd also would like to know if my grandfather (James Edward) (married to Mary Gladys Rose) may have had a family before he married my grandmother. He was in his 50s and she was in her 20s. There are about a 30 years unaccounted for. He is in the 1880 census in AL living with his father James Monroe and then he doesn't show up again until around 1910 in S.F.
My mother was raised in an orphanage, so the only info I have is her parent's names. Sorry, I don't have all of the actual dates in front of me, but I have quite a bit of it figured out if someone wants more.
